Rules of Competition
The Orienteering Canada rules of competition will apply to all classes in all events, other than for the M21 & W21 classes in all WRE races in which case the IOF rules of competition will take precedent.
A reminder for those competing in the WRE classes in the Middle and Long that IOF Competition Rules forbid the use of GPS devices unless there is “no display or audible feedback”
Complaints and Protests
A complaint can be made by a participant against any infringement of the applicable rules. The complaint must be submitted on the appropriate form (available near the results tent) to the organizers as soon as possible and no later than course closing time. There is no fee for a complaint. The organizers will adjudicate and inform the complainant immediately.
A protest can be made against the organizer's decision about a complaint. The protest must be submitted to a member of the jury on the appropriate form no later than 15 minutes after the organizer has informed the complainant of the decision about the complaint. Protests received after this time limit may be considered at the discretion of the jury if there are valid exceptional circumstances, which must be explained in the protest.
Protests made in the WRE classes incur no fee. For other classes, according to Orienteering Canada rules a fee of $25 must accompany the protest. This fee will be returned if the protest is upheld.
Even in the absence of a protest, the event committee or the jury may for valid reasons annul a course or an event.
